Omoni Oboli TV presents Love Reset, a compelling love story born from tragedy and deception. Directed by Uzo Osimkpa, the film follows the journey of a young woman who suffers a traumatic accident, resulting in retrograde amnesia. Unaware of her past, she finds herself engaged to the very person responsible for the accident. However, as fate would have it, a figure from her past emerges, challenging everything she believes to be true.

Plot

The story kicks off with Yemi, a well-known public figure, embroiled in a heated argument with his girlfriend, Tonia. Desperate to break up after five years together, Yemi’s decision pushes Tonia to the edge—literally. In a fit of rage, she intentionally crashes their car into another vehicle. The crash results in the tragic death of the driver, while the passenger, a young woman, survives but suffers retrograde amnesia, leaving her with no memory of her past.

Determined to protect his reputation, Yemi—with the help of his influential father, Alhaji—covers up the accident. He searches for any trace of the woman’s identity but, upon finding none, takes matters into his own hands. Giving her a new identity as “Fifekemi,” he brings her into his home, introduces her to his cousin and maid, and erases all traces of the tragic past. Meanwhile, he finally cuts ties with Tricia.

Fast forward three years, Fifekemi and Yemi are now in a relationship, and in front of a nationwide audience, he proposes. However, Fifekemi’s hesitant reaction foreshadows the storm brewing beneath the surface. As wedding preparations begin, they hire an event planner, Cheta. From their very first meeting, sparks fly—Cheta is visibly shaken upon seeing Kemi, and she, too, feels an inexplicable connection. With each encounter, the chemistry between them grows stronger, igniting a passion neither can ignore.

But secrets have a way of surfacing. A private investigator hired by Tonia catches Kemi and Cheta in a compromising moment, and Yemi’s ever-watchful maid soon uncovers the affair. As the evidence piles up, Yemi’s cousin wastes no time in reporting back to him. When Yemi receives the damning photos, he snaps. In a terrifying turn of events, he ties Kemi up, tortures her, and finally confesses—he was responsible for the accident that erased her past.

Meanwhile, Tonia and Cheta race against time, speeding toward Yemi’s house. Along the way, Tricia drops a bombshell: Yemi has a long history of abusing women, and she was one of his victims. In a shocking twist, she reveals that Yemi’s maid was planted for Kemi’s protection, as she is the daughter of a retired soldier.

As Yemi prepares to unleash his fury on Fifekemi, the maid intervenes just in time, revealing that everything has been secretly recorded. A struggle for the gun ensues, and in the chaos, Fifekemi is accidentally shot.

In the hospital, with Cheta by her side, Cheta unveils an even deeper truth—one that not only sheds light on her forgotten past but could also change the course of her future forever.

Summary

While Love Reset offers an intriguing storyline—one that stands out slightly from the usual YouTube movie formula—the film ultimately struggles with execution, making it feel all too familiar in its delivery.

One of the most glaring issues in the movie is its continuity. The transition from Fifekemi moving into Yemi’s home to his sudden proposal three years later feels jarring and poorly executed. With no clear passage of time and Yemi even wearing the same outfit, the audience is left confused, wondering, Did I miss something?

The film’s climax, meant to be thrilling, veers into the realm of the overly dramatic and unrealistic. The maid’s sudden transformation from a weird maid to an undercover agent with a backstory of her own feels forced and out of place. The reveal lacks buildup, making it hard to buy into. Similarly, the inexplicable partnership between Tonia and Cheta—two characters with no prior connection—feels like a stretch. Also, how does someone who recklessly crashed into your car and caused your amnesia suddenly become a trusted ally? It simply doesn’t add up.

Another questionable aspect is the repeated mention of Yemi’s father, Alhaji, who is painted as a powerful figure yet never actually appears in the film. If he was meant to have such an influence on the story, why omit his visual presence entirely?

Overall, Love Reset had the potential to be a gripping drama but falters due to choppy editing, forced plot twists, and underwhelming execution. It almost feels like parts of the film were either forgotten or cut out entirely during production, leaving behind a story that doesn’t fully connect the dots.
