Here is New Music Africa, where we enlist the best new African songs released each week

Joshua Baraka – Juvie (Album)

It’s been amazing to witness Joshua Baraka’s rise. Since coming to our attention with his breakout single Nana and the continental smash Dalilah, the 24-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist has become Uganda’s most-streamed artist ever, cementing himself as one of East Africa’s most exciting voices. His collaborations with Joeboy, Simi, Bien, and King Promise only widened his sonic world, while hits like Wrong Places, co-written with Grammy winner Jae5, pushed his sound onto global playlists.

Now, with his new album Juvie, executively produced by Jae5, Baraka turns inward, exploring love, ambition, and the growing pains of young adulthood with sharper writing and fuller confidence. It’s the most defining chapter in his ascent so far and a reminder that Joshua Baraka is no longer a rising star; he is a superstar.

Dlala Thuzkin – Mayvis (Album)

Dlala Thukzin returns with a new body of work that shows exactly why he’s one of the most inventive forces in South African dance music. His latest release, Mayvis, is a high-voltage 12-track project packed with rhythm and energy. As is usually the case with South African Amapiano albums, the project brings together a powerhouse roster of features, including Nkosazana Daughter, Sykes, Zee Nxumalo, Funky QLA, MK Productions, Goldmax, iLovelethu, and more. The album is driven by Thukzin’s signature blend of groove-heavy drums and hypnotic melodies built to keep listeners moving from start to finish.

Young Jonn – Blue Disco (Album)

Young Jonn has finally delivered Blue Disco, the long-awaited second chapter in his evolution from superstar producer to full-fledged global artist. Across its 21 tracks, Young Jonn partners with some of the continent’s brightest stars, including Wizkid, Asake, Rema, Olamide, Shenseea, Focalistic, and Franglish. With every song, the album displays the confidence of an artist who knows he’s entering a defining era. With Blue Disco, Young Jonn continues to cement his place among Africa’s most innovative hitmakers.

Elsy Wameyo – Wameyo

The Kenyan-born, Australia-based artist is a songwriter whose lines move seamlessly from the deeply personal to the generational. Whether weaving lo-fi soul into experimental beats or delivering razor-sharp lyrical moments, Wameyo has consistently shown an artistic maturity far beyond her age. Now she returns with Wameyo, a bold new six-track offering that expands her sonic universe while staying true to her Kenyan roots. Featuring powerhouse appearances from Khaligraph Jones, Mr Right, and Femi One, the EP captures Wameyo at her most confident, fusing cultural pride, fluid storytelling, and boundary-pushing production into one compelling, forward-moving body of work.

Flavour – Afroculture (Album)

Twenty years into a career that has helped redefine highlife for a new generation, Flavour delivers his eighth studio album, AfroCulture. Across 13 tracks, Flavour blends highlife, Afrobeat, soukous, amapiano, gospel, and soul into a warm, modern tapestry, strengthened by a stacked cast of collaborators including Pheelz, Kizz Daniel, Qing Madi, Azzy, Odumeje, Baaba Maal, and long-time partner Waga G. AfroCulture reflects an artist honouring where he comes from while embracing where African music is headed. It’s a vibrant, intentional body of work that reaffirms Flavour’s place as one of the continent’s enduring cultural voices.
