LabLabee, the Algerian ed-tech startup, has successfully raised $3.4 million during a seed funding round designed to advance the development of 5G, cloud, and AI within telecommunications and industries. Classera also joined the funding round, while the previous investors—Brighteye Ventures and e& capital—were also involved. Other prominent business angels involved in the round are Cedric Sellin, a tech investor and advisor, and Mohammed Husamaddin, the VP of Business Development at Naseej.
GRE is scheduled to infuse this capital into LabLabee to finance its quest for leadership of the EMEA market and to start penetrating the American market via key cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Also, the startup plans to expand its training portfolio with new labs based on such technologies as VMware, Redhat, Windriver, and others.
The immersion features that will be added in the LabLabee include a sandbox learning environment where one learns, practices, and tests. The course will also enlarge on-topic areas of our growing interest: the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0); telecom security; AI in telecom; and edge computing.
For this growth, LabLabee aims to strengthen its international team by adding new employees with expertise in engineering, sales, and customer support to meet the needs of the growing client base.
Established in 2021 by Samir Tahraoui and Mahfoud Sidi Ali Mebarek, LabLabee aims to offer practical training in cutting-edge networking technologies. Its main areas of operation are telecom, Telco cloud, enterprise, Industry, and 4. undefined They provide training for telecom operators, vendors, industrial firms, software companies, system integrators and universities, as they have a focus on practical exercise sessions, which they offer at much lower prices than the normal training programme.
Recent industry surveys have highlighted a significant barrier to cloud-native adoption in telecoms: a shortage of internal competencies. LabLabee is filling this gap by providing easy access to affordable labs across a range of modern tech topics such as 5G, IMS, OpenStack, GitOps, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes Learners can sharpen their skills and put them into practice.
General Partner and Co-Founder of Reach Capital Esteban Sosnik highlighted that LabLabee stemmed from Tahraoui’s frustration drawn from his experience as a telecom engineer and a trainer.
“He, Mahfoud and the team bring the ideal blend of deep technical experience and industry knowledge to help workers upskill, reskill, and thrive in this critical sector. We could not be more excited to back LabLabee,” said Sosnik.
Tahraoui added that the rapid evolution of networks, which are becoming more open and adaptable to business needs, poses significant challenges for telcos, system integrators, and industrial engineers. These professionals must constantly learn new technologies and architectures while maintaining a broad skill set.
“LabLabee’s benefit is to make learning easier, faster, and field-ready,” he said, summarising the platform’s key advantage.
