Bimbo Ademoye delivers a compelling story with The Homecoming, a YouTube movie directed by Great Val Edochie.  It’s all about Dieko, a young woman on a job hunt who lands a gig that’s anything but smooth.

Between clashes with her boss, a heartbreaking tragedy, and a love story she didn’t see coming, Dieko’s life becomes a whirlwind of emotions. It’s messy, dramatic, and binge-worthy.

Plot

Dieko is a young woman hustling hard in the job market for months with no luck. She dreams of an accounting role but is open to anything, so she’s desperate to make something happen. Orphaned after losing her parents in a fire, Dieko now lives with her disabled, blind grandfather.

To land any job, she applies to Eazzy, a fashion magazine, hoping for an accounting position. But desperation leads her to take a role as an assistant instead. Her new job isn’t smooth sailing—her boss, Uduak, is strict and hostile, and Uduak’s assistant takes wickedness and bullying to a whole new level, turning work into a daily battle.

Things take a surprising turn when Dieko meets Luther, Uduak’s brother, who helps her out when she’s stranded. Sparks fly, but the real twist comes when she realizes who he is during a work trip to Uduak’s family home. The trip takes a dramatic turn when Dieko gets devastating news about her grandfather. This moment reshapes her life and career in ways she never expected.

Cast

The Homecoming features amazing talents like Bimbo Ademoye, Bisola Aiyeola, and Timini Egbuson. Others include Osarieme Iniegbenebor, Angela Eguaveon, and Sir Chris Akwarandu.

Language

The two-hour movie is performed in English.

Summary

The Homecoming was a decent watch—not amazing, but still enjoyable. Maybe the bar was set too high after Bimbo Ademoye’s recent hits. The movie kicks off with strong “Devil Wears Prada” vibes, and while it doesn’t fully deliver on that, the unique plot twist near the end was a pleasant surprise. That said, some parts felt a bit far-fetched, especially the series of coincidences with Luther. Still, the story held up overall.

Being a movie with fashion linked to the plot, the effort in the costume design was noticeable, even if it didn’t completely wow. Though, one thing that was interesting, was Dieko’s wardrobe transformation after she quit her job.

It was a nice touch that, despite borrowing clothes from her best friend, her style didn’t crash completely. You could see she still put in effort, especially compared to how she dressed before landing the job. It wasn’t a drastic glow-down, but a subtle shift that kept things realistic.

All in all, The Homecoming was a decent watch with enough drama and charm to keep you entertained.
