Two entrepreneurs from Equatorial Guinea are building a U.S.-based platform designed to connect international travelers with interpreters, tour guides, and transportation services on demand.

Communication can transform a travel experience. But when visitors arrive in a country where they cannot speak the local language, even simple tasks can become challenging.

That challenge inspired the creation of TourismLang, a platform founded by two entrepreneurs from Equatorial Guinea, Luis Ndong Avomo and Primo Emilio Ndong, through their U.S.-based company, NDONG, LLC.

An idea born from a real-life experience

The inspiration behind TourismLang came from an encounter in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea. Chinese tourists visiting the city struggled to communicate with a Spanish-speaking waitress. Conventional translation tools did not provide the smooth, natural interaction they needed. Communication eventually became possible when someone nearby who had studied in China helped interpret the conversation.

The experience highlighted an important reality: technology can support communication, but human interpretation also plays a vital role in understanding, cultural exchange, and meaningful interactions.

That moment helped inspire the founders to develop a platform that brings people and languages closer together.

One platform, three essential services

TourismLang aims to simplify the experience of international travelers by connecting them with three services through one platform:

• Interpretation: Access to interpreters for in-person, virtual, and telephone communication.
• Tour guiding: Connections with local guides who can help travelers discover destinations and understand local cultures.
• Transportation: Access to transportation services that can help visitors navigate unfamiliar places.

By bringing these services together, TourismLang seeks to offer travelers a more integrated and convenient experience.

The platform is designed to serve tourists, international visitors, and business travelers who need assistance communicating and navigating destinations around the world.

Creating opportunities for service providers

TourismLang also aims to create opportunities for interpreters, tour guides, and transportation providers by connecting their services with potential customers through a shared digital platform.

Its vision is to make professional services more accessible while giving independent providers greater flexibility in how they work.

The founders see human communication as an essential part of the travel experience, with technology serving as the bridge between people, services, and cultures.

A global vision with African roots

Building a company in the United States while drawing inspiration from an experience in Equatorial Guinea reflects the international perspective behind TourismLang.

For its founders, the mission goes beyond helping travelers overcome language barriers. It is also about promoting cultural understanding and demonstrating how ideas inspired by everyday experiences in Africa can become the foundation for businesses with international ambitions.

TourismLang’s journey is still developing, but its vision is clear: to help people communicate, explore, and connect across borders.
