The winners of these ties won’t get an easy ride either. Should Rangers see off Sobemap, they’ll face whoever comes through the tie between Niger’s ASN Nigelec and Algerian giants MC Alger. El-Kanemi’s reward for beating UDIB would be a daunting meeting with Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, one of eight clubs given a bye straight into the second preliminary round. Rivers United’s path leads to either Uganda’s Vipers SC or Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou, while Shooting Stars would meet the winner of Côte d’Ivoire’s AF Amadou Diallo against Sierra Leone’s East End Lions. None of the four Nigerian clubs can afford to relax just because the first leg is behind them.
