Wizkid and Tems became the most recent Africans to win the NAACP Image Awards at the 54th edition of the ceremony.
The 2023 NAACP Image Awards will broadcast presentations announcing winners in a number of non-televised categories during the week preceding the live ceremony.
On night one, which was hosted by actor Khleo Thomas, the NAACP presented several awards in the excellent recording categories. Crystal Renee Hayslett, Echo Kellum, and Jotaka Eaddy were the presenters.
On Monday night, Beyoncé took home the most awards, including best female artist, best soul/R&B song for ‘Cuff It,’ and best album for ‘Renaissance.’ Chris Brown was up next, winning two awards for ‘Call Me Every Day’ from his album ‘Breezy‘ and “Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary)” with Wizkid.
Tems from Nigeria also claimed to have won the Best International Song award.
