Directed by Kenneth Gyang, Òlòtūré: The Journey follows the perilous adventures of Òlòtūré, portrayed by Sharon Ooja-Egwurube, a young journalist working undercover to expose the ruthless human trafficking networks in Nigeria. Her mission takes a dramatic turn as she finds herself trapped in Niger, desperately battling to escape the clutches of slave traders.
The returning cast features stellar performances from Omoni Oboli as Alice, Daniel Etim Effiong as Tony, Beverly Osu as Peju, Patrick Doyle as Sir Phillip Odanje, Ikechukwu Onunaku as Chuks, and Sambasa Nzeribe as Victor. Fans will also see Segun Arinze reprising his role as Theo and Wofai Fada as Vanessa. New additions to the cast include Bucci Franklin and Stan Nze, promising fresh dynamics to the riveting storyline.
Produced by Ebonylife Studios, the series marks another milestone in the ongoing partnership between Netflix and Mo Abudu’s production house. This collaboration aims to deliver captivating content, including two Netflix Original series, multiple branded films, and other licensed projects. Blood Sisters is another notable product of this partnership.
In a recent update, Ebonylife’s Mo Abudu unveiled exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, offering a sneak peek at the returning characters and new faces. Abudu confirmed that the series, still in post-production, will chronicle Oloture’s harrowing journey through the treacherous terrains of Niger and Libya to the Mediterranean, maintaining the intense, gritty essence of the original film.
