Flytime Promotions collaborated with Flutterwave to present Nigeria’s longest-running indoor multi-day festival on December 21-24, 2022. Every day embodies the spirit, creativity, and musical flow that pervades the entertainment industry.
The show debuted on December 21st, with a collaboration with Pepsi for Rhythm Unplugged. An event with a long list of artists. Craig David, a 41-year-old British singer-songwriter, headlined the show, with artists such as , Wande Coal, Reekado Banks , Fave, Pheelz, BNXN fka Buju, Zinoleesky, and others performing.
Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, headlined his first show in Lagos on Days 2 and 3 of the festival. On the first night, Asake brought out Fireboy DML to join him on stage, while Tiwa Savage joined him on the second night.
Wizkid had his first headline show in Nigeria in 2022 on the final night, after closing down arenas around the world. He brought on Ruger, Ayra Starr, BNXN fka Buju and Wande Coal to join him on stage.
Here are 5 epic moments from the Flytime Fest 2022, which took place at the Eko Convention Center, which has a capacity of around 3,000 people.
Wande Coal arrived just when everyone needed a lift in the room. His set was nothing short of spectacular. He exhumed a never-before-seen energy that resonated with everyone in the room, even those sitting at tables.
Craig David’s TS5 delivered another electrifying performance. He played for over an hour, each song appearing to be exactly what the audience wanted to hear. It was as if he could read the audience’s minds. The cheers were loud, and the energy was high.
For the first time in Lagos, the twomates, Fireboy DML and Asake team up to perform their collaborative hit single ‘Bandana’ and the reception was nothing short from what was expected.
Asake’s entire set at the Flytime Festival on December 22, 2022 lasted about one hour and thirty minutes, which meant he finished before 1am. Even though the new global star delivered a fantastic performance, some were disappointed because they expected him to perform until 5 a.m.
When the show ended, many of his fans were still on their way. This is most likely due to the singer’s entire catalog not being longer than 2 hours, or Flytime’s desire to control the crowd and avoid accidents following the recent events at Asake’s concert in London.
Wizkid took time at the Flytime Festival on day 4 to explain what he meant after making a post on his Instagram story indicating that he will not be performing in Lagos after this festive season. According to the global star, his subsequent performances in Lagos will be free because he believes his day one fans should not be charged to party with him.
