Nollywood Epic ‘Ekpebiwo M: I Have Decided’ Set To Premiere This November

A stunning blend of history, faith, and culture, Ekpebiwo M (I Have Decided), a Nigerian Igbo epic, is set to make its big-screen debut on November 8, 2024.

Based against the socio-cultural backdrop of pre-colonial eastern Nigeria, it lineaments the dramatic narrative of a village chief, Chidi Mokeme—a renowned actor in the Nigerian movie industry Nollywood—a man who decides to leave behind his cultural religion so that he could embrace Christianity. His conversion from a fisherman to an evangelist is characterised by tension due to the endangerment of his faith as well as his family. Ini Edo plays the wife, who also has her own demons and concerns despite her husband, knowing the traditional abnormalities that follow them.

Exploring themes of resilience, cultural conflict, and spiritual determination, Ekpebiwo M delivers a gripping narrative on the struggle between age-old traditions and the rise of new beliefs. The film, inspired by the renowned hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” tackles the sacrifices and personal trials that come with making life-altering decisions.

Directed by Matthew Ajallys, the film boasts an impressive cast including veteran actors Alex Usifo, Jide Kosoko, and rising stars like Justice Slik and Chucks Chyk. The ensemble cast promises an evocative portrayal of the emotional and cultural struggles at the heart of the film.

Distributed by Tribe Nation Distribution Limited in collaboration with Lewabo Inspirational Movies, Ekpebiwo M is poised to be a landmark release in Nigerian cinema, offering audiences a powerful exploration of faith, identity, and community in a beautifully told period drama.
