From rising stars to established legends, artists from all over Africa have dropped new tracks that are sure to get you dancing and singing along. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at some of the most exciting new releases out of Africa this week, featuring Fireboy DML, Mohammed Chahine, Amaarae, Lady Zamar, and more.

Now let’s run down the New Music Africa for this week;

Fireboy DML – Someone

Fireboy DML in recent years has established himself as one of the young beacons in the Nigerian music scene. His last body of work, ‘Playboy’ was a successful outfit, and now he is back with new music. His recent release is titled ‘Someone’; an Afro-pop ballad. The song was produced by the production quartet of Matt Di Carlantonio, Preme, Unsvng, and ace Nigerian music producer, P.prime.

Mohamed Chahine – Loon Bahet

Egyptian musician, Mohamed Chahine releases an emotive single titled ‘Loon Bahet’. The singer intones heartfelt melodies over a steady tempo. The song was written by Eslaam Refaat and Mohamed Shafei.

Amaarae – Co-Star

‘Co-star’ is the latest effort from female Ghanaian indie singer, Amaarae. The star sings about horoscopes and sensual-filled moments on the fast-paced jive. The single is a follow-up to ‘Reckless and Sweet’ and was co-produced by Amaarae herself. 

Lady Zamar – World’s Gone Crazy

Yamikani Janet Banda, otherwise known as Lady Zamar is a South African singer and songwriter, and her latest single, ‘World’s Gone Crazy’ is an apocalyptic-themed oeuvre centered around Love. Lady Zamar sings about the current despondent situation of the World, but at the same time finds solace in the arms of a lover. ‘World’s Gone Crazy’ was produced by Lady Zamar and BenMajorr.

Hook, Blinky Bill, Bruce Rooke, Marlene Bett – Sauti Ya Mama

Kenyan Music producer, Hook comes through with absolute class on ‘Sauti Ya Mama’. The exotic alternative song features Kenyan disk jockey, Kenyan rapper, Blinky Bill, and Kenyan singer, Marlene Bett. 

Ckay – Hallelujah (Feat. Blaqbonez)

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ckay resurge back into the music scene fully with his latest Afro-pop single titled, ‘Hallelujah’. The feel-good number features label mate and hip-hop superstar, Blaqbonez. ‘Hallelujah’ was produced by hitmaker, Magic Sticks.

King Promise – Terminator

Ghanaian singer and songwriter, King Promise delivers a new Amapiano jive titled, ‘Terminator”. The singer belts about peace of mind and personal acceptance. The record was produced by Ghanaian record producer, KillBeatz.

Iyanya, Bnxn –  Sinner

Seasoned and talented Nigerian musician, Iyanya has been on a hiatus, but judging by his recent exploits, he seems keen on reclaiming his spot. The singer recruits Afro-fusion superstar, Bnxn on his latest bop titled, ‘Sinner’. The record was produced by Shugavybz.

Njelic, Mkeyz, Thabza Tee, Rhythm Tee- Izinto Zimane Zijike

South African record producer and disk jockey, Njelic drops a soulful Amapiano record featuring Mkeyz, Thabza Tee, Rhythm Tee, and Zimane Zijike. The Amapiano song is a club banger.

Bey T – Obvious

Soulful Kenyan singer, Bey T is all about the pursuit of happiness in her latest single, ‘Obvious’. The R&B star narrates various points in her life, including a time of great depression, but now she is ready for the positive aftermath and she belts it all out in her latest sonic beauty.
