Morocco and Spain were competing for a place in the quarterfinals in a game on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in Qatar. Morocco defeated legendary soccer greats Spain in front of a global audience in their final Round 16 match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Soccer competition to advance to the Quatar finals.
The two soccer superpowers were evenly matched for the entire 90-minute game and two additional 15-minute periods before Morocco won 3-0 on penalties. The Atlas Lions are the continent’s final hope for the trophy, having fought valiantly from the start.

The two-hour goalless scramble was arguably the least tedious scramble we’ve seen in this tournament so far, as both teams played a solid game that demonstrated the importance of the victory on both sides. Spain would undoubtedly be disappointed with their performance.
