Funbi Drops Soulful Single, ‘Distance’ From Upcoming EP ‘Love Lust’

After a brief hiatus from the limelight, Funbi, affectionately known as the maestro of Afro-funky, triumphantly returns with his latest single, ‘Distance’—a soul-stirring masterpiece that marks his resurgence in the alternative music scene of Nigeria. With an unparalleled fusion of R&B and Afrobeats elements, ‘Distance’ serves as a tantalising precursor to his much-anticipated EP, ‘Love Lust.’

As one of the pioneers of the alternative music landscape in Nigeria, Funbi has consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity and innovation. Over the past few years, he has captivated audiences with his distinctive sound and thought-provoking lyrics, especially with hits like, ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Turn Me Around’ featuring Ladipoe, ‘Serenade,’ and ‘Up to You,’ a classic feature with Show Dem Camp.

Distance,’ the lead single from Funbi’s forthcoming EP, is produced by the exceptionally talented Spax, known for his work on hits like ‘Damages’ by Tems and “Up to You” by SDC, among many others, as well as Funbi’s longtime collaborator. It encapsulates the essence of longing and desire with its smooth, sensual rhythms and captivating melodies. Evoking emotions of passion and introspection, the track delves into the complexities of relationships, expressing a yearning for deeper connection and commitment. ‘Love Lust’ promises to be a musical journey like no other, with Funbi masterfully navigating the intricate layers of human emotion and experience. Drawing inspiration from his own life and observations, Funbi delivers an authentic and heartfelt collection of songs that resonate with listeners on a profound level.

Speaking about his return and the inspiration behind ‘Distance,’ Funbi shares, “I’m thrilled to be back and to share this new chapter of my musical journey with my fans. ‘Distance’’ is a reflection of my own experiences and the universal longing we all feel at times. It’s about bridging the gap between two hearts and embracing the beauty of vulnerability.”

With its captivating blend of soulful melodies, infectiously sexy grooves, and poignant storytelling, ‘Distance’ is poised to captivate audiences worldwide. Whether enjoyed during an evening drive or against the backdrop of a beach sunset, this enchanting track promises to transport listeners to a realm of pure musical bliss.

‘Distance’ is now available on all major streaming platforms, and fans can expect the full EP ‘Love Lust’ to be released in the coming months. Funbi invites music enthusiasts everywhere to join him on this exhilarating musical odyssey, as he continues to redefine the boundaries of Afro-fusion and solidify his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic musical talents.
