DJ Joozey: The First To Play On The Peak Of Mt Kilimanjaro

On the 5th of March, 2023 Tanzania’s DJ Joozey announced via a tweet(that has since been pinned to the top of his timeline) that he had achieved a trailblazing feat worthy of celebration.

The remarkable achievement was that Joozey had become the first man ever to complete a Disk jockeying gig,

set for fifteen minutes at the highest-standing mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

The mountain is reputed to be standing at 5,895 metres (19,341ft) above sea level, and 4,900 metres (16,100ft) above the mountain’s plateau base.

This act meant the twenty-seven-year-old daredevil had not only done the unforgettable but also fulfilled a lifelong dream, ticking off an important part of his bucket list in the process.

Dj Joozey whose actual name is Joseph Simion Misa was born in the slums of Shinyanga but decided to move to the Country’s industrial capital, Dar es Salaam for a life upgrade. As is common with many, his journey to stardom wasn’t a walk in the park, as things proved difficult for him in Dar es salaam being alien to the new city he had found himself in, he struggled to reach ends meet.

After engaging in menial jobs for survival without avail, Joozey then decided to purchase a reach-me-down desktop computer to enhance his Disk jockeying skills, it was in this newfound hustle that he had met with purpose.

The rising star’s record-breaking endeavor has been lauded as an ambassador act by many including the Chief spokesperson for the Tanzanian government, Mr. Gerson Msigwa who showered DJ joozey with praises on Instagram, captioning: “This is how we brand our Country.”

In a recent interview with a Tanzanian publication, the disk jockey said a driving force to his record-breaking act was the importance of the Kilimanjaro mountain and what it signified for the Tanzanian people.

Today, he is one of the most booked DJs in Tanzania, and arguably in East Africa. With an impressive discography which includes being featured in America’s Dj Khaled 2022, “God Did” Album. Dj Joozey is truly a star on the rise.
