3 Cold Dishes: Everything To Know About Burna Boy’s Movie

3 Cold Dishes is a collaborative venture led by Asurf Films in conjunction with IFind, Alma Production, and Sal Martian Network. The collaboration extends to Nexthought Studios, Ifind Pictures (France), Black Mic Mac (France), Martian Network (The Netherlands), and Alma Production (Cote D’Ivoire).

The storyline revolves around Esosa, Fatouma, and Giselle, former victims of sex trafficking who have risen to power in the underground world of prostitution. Despite their success, they remain haunted by their past trauma and the perpetrators who sold them into slavery, seeking retribution.

Burna Boy, through Spaceship Films, will produce the film. Spaceship Films was established in 2015 by Burna Boy and his mother, Bose Ogulu.

Award-winning filmmaker Asurf Oluseyi directs the film, with co-direction by Apolline Traore and a screenplay by Tomi Adesina. 3 Cold Dishes delves into the crime adventure thriller genre, portraying the resilience of the human spirit amidst trauma and survival.

The movie aims to shed light on human trafficking, particularly the trafficking of young girls across the Sub-Saharan region, sparking conversations and promoting change on this crucial social issue.

Featuring a stellar cast including Wale Ojo, with music by Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Asa, Tems, Johnny Drille, and Ayra Starr, 3 Cold Dishes is a collaborative effort by Asurf Oluseyi, Odo Marie Alexandra Amon Vauthier Aurelie, with Tomi Adesina as the screenwriter and Asurf Oluseyi and Apolline Traore as directors.

Story

Traumatized by their past as sex trafficking victims, Esosa, Fatouma, and Giselle rise to formidable heights in the shadowy world of prostitution. Yet, their newfound power cannot silence the ghosts of their captors. Driven by vengeance, they embark on a journey across West Africa, hunting those who robbed them of their freedom.

Their search takes them to Abidjan, where the target is defended inside the city’s citadel and law enforcement is closing in. The women must decide whether to pursue closure or give in to a vicious cycle of revenge as they struggle with their past and the dangers that lie ahead.

This gripping thriller explores the brutal realities of perseverance, survival, and the fervent quest for justice. This is a powerful story of mistreated women who rise above the system, take back control of their lives, and dare to fight back against a society that has turned its back on them.

In Africa, many young girls are forced into prostitution, often far from home, by men close to them. The perpetrators’ diverse profiles add depth to the film, which tackles the complex and intensely political theme of forced prostitution of young girls in Africa. The variety of questions the three women ask in the confrontation sequences highlights their different experiences of trauma.

By showcasing multiple profiles and examples, the film offers a diverse range of perspectives, preventing it from becoming reductive. While focusing on the world of prostitution, the film blends crime with sociological study. However, the storyline is ultimately linked by a theme of friendship and solidarity that defies genre.

3 Cold Dishes is a heartbreaking story of redemption and empowerment that will keep spectators on the edge of their seats, rooting for these brave ladies to triumph in their fight against oppression and injustice.

Cast

The film boasts a star-studded cast, featuring prominent Nollywood actors like Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, Femi Jacobs, Ruby Akubueze, Brutus Richards, and Greg Ojefua. It’s further enriched by the talents of Ivorian actors Fat Toure and Maud Guerard, alongside Senegalese stars Amelie Mbaye and Mentor Ba.
